Few things are as closely tied to Scandinavian tradition as the cinnamon bun. Every year on October 4, Scandinavians and increasingly people around the world, celebrate Kanelbullens dag (Cinnamon Bun Day). For Espresso House, the day has become one of the year’s most cherished occasions.
On Cinnamon Bun Day last year, Espresso House guests enjoyed almost 40 000 cinnamon buns in a single day across markets.
“Cinnamon Bun Day is more than just about pastry – it’s about warmth, togetherness, and celebrating a beloved tradition that unites people across borders,” says Thea Winsnes, Commercial Manager Espresso House Norway. “We are proud to carry on this tradition and to share it with both long-time fans and new customers.”
The cinnamon bun has a history stretching back over a century in Scandinavia, where it is a cornerstone of the beloved fika tradition. Its appeal continues to grow, making it not only a cultural icon but also a symbol of cozy indulgence.
This year, Espresso House will once again mark October 4 with cinnamon buns across its coffee shops – keeping a Scandinavian tradition alive and growing.
